EKASILK PLUS is a foam abrasive with a hook-and-loop backing, which means it can mount directly to a random orbital sander. The foam is dense enough to sand a flat panel cleanly, but flexible enough that it conforms to the rounded edges and shallow profiles of a shaker door without cutting through the primer or leaving a halo around the panel. The 10mm thickness, in particular, is built to clear the raised center of a shaker door so you can sand the surrounding frame in a single pass.
The practical result is that the hand-sanding step largely disappears. You’re still doing the same finishing work — you’re just doing it with a tool instead of your fingers, and you’re doing it consistently across the whole door.
