Jon, a carpenter, takes us through what to do when you need to finish a cabinet door that has been over-sanded and damaged. Using a conventional abrasive on an orbital sander inside a shaker door can lead to damage on the rails and styles, as well as cut-through on the primer. However, using Ekasilk Plus 10mm and Uneelon Non-woven Abrasive pads can help to even out the surface and bring it back to a paintable surface. Additionally, using the sanding sponges would help avoid the damage in the first place, as the depth of the sponge provide softness as it hits the inside of the rails and styles, and also provides clearance so the backup pad does not hit.
