Ekasilk Plus, UNEEDA’s foam abrasives line for orbital sanders, comes in a variety of sizes – and if you have multiple types of orbital sanders, or if you’re in the market for a new one, it could be hard to know which one to use. This, of course, will depend on your application.
These hook and loop backed sponges come in all the standard orbital sander formats for discs and sheets:
- Discs: 3 in, 5 in, 6 in
- Sheets: 3 in x 4 in, 3 2/3 in x 7 in
If you’re working on cabinetry or need to sand corners, the 3”x4” or 3-2/3”x 7” sponges are your weapons of choice – depending on if it’s a small or large area that you need to cover. These two formats are also perfect to reach tight spaces, like between shutters, as they can be offset on the sander when using the 5mm sponge.
For flat sanding, we recommend using EKASILK PLUS 5” discs in 5mm or 10mm thickness. If you have a large surface to sand, the 6” discs will help you cover more ground, more quickly.
And if you have the resources, it could make sense to have a few different sanders for different purposes on hand, as these formats definitely complement one another. Both shapes, whether rectangle or round, can be used on contours, rounded edges and various profiles to achieve the perfect finish you need on your next project.
